Dubai has launched the Suspended Transport Systems Project, a 65-kilometer smart mobility network connecting Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khor, and Zabeel. This project aims to enhance the city’s leadership across various sectors over the next decade. The Executive Council of Dubai made the announcement as part of its strategic vision for the future.
Advancing Driverless Public Transport by 2030
Dubai’s goal is to increase autonomous public transport journeys to 25% of all trips by 2030. The new transport system will play a key role in achieving this target. The Dubai Media Office (DMO) highlighted that the project will make transportation more efficient and environmentally sustainable.
Integrated and Efficient City Transit
This suspended transport system will integrate with Dubai’s other modes of transport. This integration ensures that people can move smoothly across the city. Although further details about the project are yet to be revealed, the focus remains on providing a connected and efficient transit network.
Dubai Sky Pods: A Glimpse Into the Future
Earlier, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled Dubai Sky Pods, showcasing the suspended transport technology. These sky pods will travel along elevated beams, offering passengers a scenic journey above the city. Designed to stay horizontal, even when climbing inclines, the pods ensure a smooth ride without causing a “roller-coaster” effect, giving passengers a comfortable experience.
